Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a highly effective and relaxing method of exfoliation that consists of using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.

This procedure is a favorite of models and actresses in Beverly Hills  because in addition to exfoliating the skin it also eliminates that annoying peach fuzz that cakes up in makeup and can be enhanced by harsh production lighting and high-definition cameras. “Derma planing removes all the dead skin cells and also the facial hair, leaving the surface very smooth,” says Amber Cherry, Master Esthetician. Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. It is also used to help prepare skin for more intrusive procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who is it for?

Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with active acne. Patients wanting to treat acne scars, sun damage, fine lines and very dry skin are great candidates for dermaplaning. Patients that use Retin-A or Retinol creams must discontinue those products for 1 week prior to dermaplaning as well as 1 week after treatment.

How long is the treatment?

As a single treatment dermaplaning can be done in about 430-5 minutes; however, it can also be an add-on to any facial, chemical peel or hydration treatment.

Will dermaplaing make my facial hair come back thicker?

NO, dermaplaning will not change the histology of the hair. This means that the hair will not come back thicker, darker or coarser than it was before having the treatment.

How many dermaplaning treatments are needed to see results?

Patients will notice their skin is immediately smooth after the treatment is completed but typically need treatments once a month in order to achieve desired results.
