To have a good skin care regimen you must know your skin. To truly love your skin, you must get to know it and learn how to nurture it. Knowing whether you have dry, oily, combination, sensitive or dehydrated skin will tell you what kinds of products you need and how to use them. No matter the skin type, cleansing twice a day is recommended, followed by a PH-balancing toner—not an astringent. Often underestimated, a PH-balancing toner actually balances out your skin after being stripped clean, and helps improve the absorption products the you apply. Finding the right moisturizer is key to keeping skin smooth soft, and protected from sun damage. During the day, you should ALWAYS apply sunscreen, even on an overcast day. When it comes to sun damage, prevention with sunscreen will always be easier and more affordable than the treatment to correct it.
After the age of 20 you lose 1% of collagen per year; so by the age of 30 you should begin a regular retinol treatment for skin cell health and wrinkle prevention. Once in your 40’s I recommend a medical grade skin care system as the over-the-counter and department store products don’t have quite enough oomph for correction.
If you would like more detailed or customized information on care for your skin I would be honored to meet with you for a complimentary consultation to help you look and feel your best!
Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen…
